Last year, Motive Studio, under the umbrella of Electronic Arts, excitedly disclosed their venture into developing a solo-player Iron Man game. This promising project marks the beginning of a fresh collaboration between EA and Marvel. In a recent studio update, Patrick Klaus, the general manager of Motive Studio, illuminated further details, emphasizing that the technological foundation of this anticipated Iron Man game will be the cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5.
Earlier this year, Motive Studio garnered applause for their successful remake of Dead Space. With that milestone accomplished, Patrick Klaus mentioned that the studio’s energy is now fully channeled toward the Iron Man game. Despite being in the initial phases of pre-production, the team is enthusiastic about diving deep into the diverse avenues that Iron Man presents, from intriguing narratives and innovative designs to immersive gameplay experiences. Echoing the inclusive approach Motive adopted for Dead Space, they’ve set up a Community Council. Comprising devout Marvel and Iron Man aficionados, this council plays a pivotal role in providing constructive feedback on nearly all facets of the game’s development.
Patrick Klaus also shed light on their choice of game engine: Unreal Engine 5, chosen to bolster the creativity of the development team and ensure the outcome is truly mesmerizing. For context, this engine has powered recent hits like Lords of the Fallen, EA’s own Immortals of Aveum, and the globally renowned Fortnite by Epic. Shifting the focus slightly, Klaus provided insights into the current workings of Motive Studio. With members gradually resuming work at their Montreal base, he describes the present phase as one of “evolution,” hinting at the studio’s ambitious goals. Emphasizing their core ethos, he expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from EA, their invaluable partners at Marvel Games, and the global community of players. Motive Studio, as Klaus highlights, is fueled with purpose and drive.
