Roblox, the renowned gaming platform, popular amongst younger audiences, has unexpectedly become a virtual stage for this activism.
After the events on October 7, Israel engaged in rigorous bombings on Gaza, where over 2 million Palestinians reside. Current statistics place the Palestinian fatalities above 5,000, the majority being children.
On the 23rd of October, an engaging post surfaced on a platform once known as Twitter: “y’all my cousin is 15 and couldn’t join a protest so she just went to one on Roblox bro i’m crying.” Reactions to this post unveiled videos of the digital Roblox protest, wherein players energetically showcased their pro-Palestinian stance. They marched with Palestinian flags along a prominent red brick pathway, culminating in a grand plaza, the centerpiece of which was a banner inscribed with “Solitary Untukmu” (Malay for “Solidarity for you”).
